Why File Host Links Stop Working (and What to Do)
Dead link? Common reasons file-hosting links fail — deleted files, expired links, takedowns and wrong URL formats — with quick fixes.
A link that worked last year may not work today. Here are the usual reasons and how to tell them apart.
1. The file was deleted
Uploaders can remove files, and hosts delete files after long inactivity. If the file page itself says “not found” in your browser, nothing can restore it.
2. The file was taken down
Hosts remove files after copyright or abuse complaints. Those links stay dead.
3. The link is the wrong type
Folder links, search pages and account pages are not single-file links. Copy the URL from the file’s own page, such as a /file/ address on Rapidgator or a /view/ address on Nitroflare.
4. The link is temporary
Some links generated during a download expire within minutes. Always use the original file page URL.
5. Extra characters were copied
Forums and messaging apps sometimes add spaces, line breaks or tracking parameters. Trim these and try again.
Quick fix checklist
- Open the link in your browser first.
- Remove anything after the file name.
- Check you are using a supported domain on our services list.
- Read how download links work for background.
